About

Hugh Hutton, 23-years-old based in the North East.

Hello, welcome to my website!

My name is Hugh Hutton and I am a qualified Sports Journalist and Graphic Designer based in the North East of England.

I have over half a decade of experience in the sports media industry and worked for a verity of businesses outside of sports.

I have a passion for design in digital art and print with further interests in content writing, broadcast media, videography, and video editing.

Since graduating from the University of Sunderland, I am continuing to look for further opportunities to grow my portfolio and knowledge.

Currently, I am an Apprentice Graphic Designer at The Northern Education Trust.

My role is to support the Trust’s Graphic Designer and assist with all design, print and production items, developing concepts, graphics and layouts for websites and other materials such as brochures, posters, prospectus etc.

Since 2017, I have worked match-days and events for EFL Championship side Sunderland Association Football Club. Starting as a runner, I became more trusted and an important member of the SAFC team – progressing to my current role as a Scoreboard Operator while also doing other roles. These being a TV Service Supervisor and a Broadcast Camera Operator.

In 2022, I volunteered at National League North side Blyth Spartans as a Graphic Designer, before adding the Programme Editor role to my responsibilities last summer.

In 2023, I earned myself a paid role as a Graphic Designer at Newcastle Blue Star. My role meant that I was responsible for creating social media packages, promotional artwork and designing advertising boards, wall art, food/drink menus, season ticket cards, and the match-day programme. The club are a forward thinking, progressive looking to rise up the football pyramid which is what initially drew me towards the club.
